This hi-tech sun bed is one of the concepts from this “Beach&Pool 2008/09″ design competition. The hi-tech lounger “S3” signifies the sun, and three relaxing positions it can mold into to comfort its owner. The solar-powered lounger has an automatic mechanism that follows the sun, keeping the sun bed always oriented with the sun. And its automatic waterdrop spray permits a refreshing action by spraying vaporized water all along the body, so you won’t be charred to death in case you are off to a nap. Besides, you can even adjust the motorized roof as per your convenience. The best part is the lounger even has a touchscreen LCD display, DVD player, speakers, USB slot – all powered with solar energy. And the bed is crafted in teak with anodized aluminum. Though the sun bed could not feature in the first three winning entries, this is our favorite pick of the lot.

Racing fans can now own a piece of racing history with the McLaren F1 GTR, one of the 3 successors of the McLaren F1, going up for sale from a private collection in Tokyo, Japan. The custom-built race car was introduced in 1995 and is known for its overall victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car ran for three years from 1995-1997, with a total of 9 chassis built in the first two years and 10 in the final year – one of which, #09R, was sold to Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, for his car collection. The chassis up for sale is #28R, originally #27R, but was damaged, and rebuilt for GTC Competition as a spare car, raced late in FIA GT in 1997. In 1997, the car weighed about 2,000lb (910kg) and generated a conservative 600hp (447kW) from its de-stroked 6.0L version of the F1’s 60-degree V12. MotorAuthority reports that a standard road-going McLaren F1 recently went for $4 million at auction, which means this McLaren F1 variant could also fetch a matching price, and we agree.

For the coffee lovers, who love to know about everything related to their drink of choice, from the best of equipment to the most expensive coffee and coffee machines, the coffee-lovers’ bible is incomplete without Bellevue’s automatic espresso machines. We have earlier told you about the $20,000 coffee maker at the Japanese siphon bar, at the Blue Bottle Café in San Francisco that looked like it belonged in a science lab. But if you thought it to be the most expensive coffee machine ever – just like us – then you haven’t heard about the Concordia Coffee Systems in Bellevue yet. The company claims that their Concordia Coffee Systems are instead the “most expensive espresso machine in the world” at about $10,000 to $40,000 apiece.
