To get your hands on the most outlandish home furnishing items this side of the friendly neighborhood flea market, you might have to spare a few moments from your otherwise busy lives as daily soap analysts and browse through the catalog for “Utopia: Lost and Found” collection that is currently being hosted by the Wright auction house. Inspired by post-WWII design, more than 150 home furnishing items form a rather quirky a private collection are being offered for sale, which BTW boasts of works by eminent Italian designers including Ettore Sottsass, Gaetano Pesce, Gio Ponti and Joe Colombo. The collection’s themes range from the wacky-but-underrated Memphis style of the 1970s and ’80s to contemporary “blobjects” by Marc Newson.

The 1973 Gianni Ruffi’s La Cova design featured in the picture above features a nest made of scraps of felt and fabrics over sculpted foam with an egg-shaped pillow, and being one of the six originals, is valued at $50,000 to $70,000. The auction will be opened to public on April 1 so you better set up your DVR timers to cover the entire afternoon’s worth of television if you wanna get that freaky nest!
