Do you still think you need time-honored gasoline to reach swift speeds? The recently held Panasonic Oxyride Speed Challenge in Japan witnessed a soapbox-styled car hitting speeds of up to 122km/h on 192 AA batteries. By doing that, the Panasonic-developed car has made its way to the Guinness book of records as the world’s fastest car that runs on standard dry cell batteries. The car weighs 38kg and measures 3.3m in length, 0.78m in width, and 0.56m in height. The car is equipped with a F1 styled cabin complete with a fin and rudder for better handling. The body is made of strong material ‘aramide honeycomb,’ which is used to make bulletproof vest. Check out more pics and video after the jump.
