While everyone was busy talking about recession, Ginza Tanaka jewelry shop in Japan turned heads by showcasing a gold and diamond Christmas tree worth £1 million lately (pictured above). Weighing in at 21 kilograms, this gold tree is adorned with more than 240 jewels, including diamond baubles and strings of pearls. This wasn’t the first time that we saw such an expensive Christmas tree. Let’s take a look at others.
Diamond-studded Christmas tree worth $1.8 million

Priced at $1.8 million, this diamond-covered Christmas tree adorned with 400 diamonds was seen at the Takashimaya department store chain in China last year. The tree was actually a small tower of preserved roses with a teddy bear. It stood 40 centimeters high and was festooned with around 100 carats of diamonds from southern Africa and Australia.

Priced at $850,000, this Christmas tree was made in pure 24 carat, 21 kilogram gold. The golden tree emitted golden light to create a magical aura around it.
Soo Kee Jewellery’s Christmas tree

Priced at $1,005,000, this Christmas tree created by Soo Kee Jewellery was decked out with 21,798 diamonds totaling 913 carats, 3,762 crystal beads and 456 lights. Weighing in at over 7,000 pounds, the tree was nearly 20 foot tall.
Queen Victoria Building Christmas tree

A giant Christmas tree is placed in the central atrium of the Queen Victoria Building every year. The Christmas tree is about 4 stories high and is covered in 15,000 Swarovski crystals, 40,000 lights, 8,000 baubles, 400 bows and 3,700 branches.
Steve Quick Jeweler’s Christmas tree

Priced at $500,000, this Christmas tree was created out of five pounds of solid 18K gold, with a 4.52 carat stone set in a platinum star that adorns its top. The glitzy tree flaunts diamond-briolette ornaments and a layer of 200 carats of diamonds, which form a shiny covering of snow.
