Since 1975, Fred Baier has been creating state-of-the-art commissioned furniture in his own studio. One of the highlights of his collection is the Dual Quad desk, which looks to be the inspiration for the very famous Wall-E robot. Only three examples of this desk were made, in private collections in the U.S. and UK. This transformer robot desk is done in stained and lacquered birch plywood. The designer says that the one pictured above is the baddie. There’s another in blond timber and covered with a sort of pictorial time capsule of the earth. If you are into robotics and transformable furniture, the Dual Quad desk can be commissioned for a whopping £11,100 (approx. US $16,255).
