Fitting your car with a high-tech music system for some superb acoustic pleasures seems to be within the reach of every guy in your neighborhood. It’s only when you have your whole vehicle modified in to a mobile music system, you can get eyebrows raised in total admiration! That’s exactly what musical equipment manufacturer Vox did. Renowned for making the Vox AC30 guitar amplifier, the Vox electric organ, and a series of innovative electric guitars and bass guitars, they approached George Barris to build a Voxmobile guitar auto. Their idea was to fabricate a custom roadster that would function both as a car and as a mobile amplifier, designed to be used for promotional purposes. And their dreams came true with Voxmobile, a vehicle with a Vox guitar silhouette that served as a functioning amp that could support up to 32 guitars, and also featured a working Vox organ in the rear deck. At $30,000, this Voxmobile is a harmonious showstopper!
This complete music on the move is empowered by a supply power from 12 volt auto-lite automotive battery, to 110 AC through two 450 watt inverters. The wild guitar sounds are powered by three powerful VOX Beatle amplifiers, complete with reverb, treble/bass boost and mid-range boost. For outstanding resonance, arrays of speakers are hidden in the framework.
In all, there are 2 main drive speakers mounted atop the intake manifold, five 12″ speakers, one 18″ bass speaker and four tweeters. As though this wouldn’t suffice a Muntz stereo cartridge tape deck was installed. It houses 6 speakers and modulators and will be used to produce music when you happen not to have a band handy.
It’s bound to rock the world as it moves different places!

What??? $30,000 for THIS ugly set of wheels?? You have got to be kidding me!! I mean its not even an art car!! Gosh, I’d certainly looooove to see this monstrosity destroyed in a drag race!!
I find it a unique car. I love to read and collect pictures of different car design and style. Thanks for posting it there you gave me another unique car collection. I always read some auto related topics like autopartswarehouse and car fashion magazine but I never seen like the guitar car.
