Vintage Space Age Music Systems

Ever-since Neil Armstrong stepped on Moon, to till date, the world is mad about anything that took its inspiration from space. And, if you are one among those who always get thrilled over anything that relates to space in one or the other aspect then I have got something great for you! It is stereo and it is called the Weltron (Techwood) Model 2005. Yes, don’t get fooled by the ‘futuristic’ year!

This stereo system is inspired from the space and was originally released in 1970 with an 8 track player. An improved model Model 2007 was released shortly later having a cassette player rather than an 8 track. The stereo looks very much like a science fiction depiction of a UFO space ship and infact it is believed to be inspired by the classic futuristic sci-fi movie 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).

The system features a built in AM/FM stereo, automatic record changer turntable with 33 1/3 - 45 - 78 rpm speeds, built in speakers, 8 track player / cassette play & recorder. And, you will be even more amazed to know the stereo to be used on a tabletop or can be moved around the floor with ease pretty unlike the stereo systems available in the market which just sits there in the cabinet. The top of the stereo has a large round smoked perspex lid which looks like a space ship door when opened. Its internal green lights and psychedelic turntable display made it easy to operate in the dark.

It also features jacks for microphones and headphones and the AUX jacks allow for additional speakers or to play your TV or CD player via the stereo. The stereo casing was made using ABS plastic (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) which is gaining wide popularity among the designers for its flexibility, light weight and high durability. So, if you don’t have one then I am sure it will be really tough to resist one...right!!!
