A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it’s better to be thoroughly sure. While wines have always been a part of the fine dining experience, beer sounds like its poor cousin! Well, not anymore. Carlsberg, Scandinavia’s biggest brewer has introduced Vintage No.1, world’s most expensive beer that’ll sell for $400. The designer beer has a chestnut brown color, little foam and hints of prune, caramel, vanilla and oak tree from the French and Swedish wooden casks in which it is stored. The beer goes well with cheeses and desserts according to the brewer. The exclusivity comes from the fact only 600 bottles of the 10.5 percent proof beer, each of 37.5 centiliters (0.8 pint) is on sale for 2008 with newer versions expected to hit the market in the following years. Vintage No.1 beats its nearest rival,Boston Beer Co.’s Utopia which held the No.1 spot of the most expensive beer so far. If luxury is your second name, try the beer before it disappears off the shelves.
