Lampshades are often an addendum when it comes to beautifying a room but, they can truly contribute significantly to the design of your interior. Pictured above is ‘the fall of the damned‘ lampshade by Luc Merx that looks to be a hovering mass of ornaments, which is simply opulent and bombastic.

If you take a closer look, the lampshade dissolves into single bodies, which are coiled in fear and seem to be frozen. The rhythmic order becomes slightly puzzling and finally renders the bodies an ornamental shape.

Legs and stomachs reflect the light and since the bodies throw shadows on themselves, only parts of them appear in the fore. The design of this lamp undercuts numerous taboos imposed on design in the 20th century.

The totally figurative, ornamental and narrative ‘damned’ lampshade has been made in a limited run of 40 pieces with each unit costing $47520.
