We have earlier told you about Taste DJ, the musical cooking station, that will revolutionize the way you cook. Now, the revolution deepens further with another path-breaking Floating Kitchen Island concept from Chinese designers Chaoran Zheng, Fu Yetao and Zheng Chaoran. The floating island is designed to maximize the kitchen space by utilizing the limited space, which assigns the traditional kitchen’s tools into three ecological islands. The kitchen island hangs to the roof with stable steel cables that can be adjusted according to the user’s height. The steel cables create the magical night sky feel with the distributed lamps along the cable that glows like stars in the night sky.

The kitchen island come in three non-regular shapes including Drink Island that features water faucet, beverage storage area that connects to the faucet as well and utensils storage area that also performs the disinfection function, Icebox Island that includes that features a chilled zone for refrigeration and Cook Island that features Korean grill, electric magnetic oven and microwave oven.

While its certainly an eterprising design....You’ve definetely got to wonder exactly how they are planning to route the cold/hot/waste water pipes to the sink and icebox, not to mention the electrical wires for the stove and microwave. The problem I’d forsee is the inevitable swinging that would occour the moment you actually tried to use this thing, and god forbid you ever accidentally leaned up against it.
Perhaps they could improve the design by using rigid steel hangers instead of flexible wire.
Hi Lach,
Though, I agree the designers could better replace the steel wires with the steel hangers, but reportedly the steel cables used are ”stable and sturdy.” And, the flexibility feature is imparted so as to assist the user’s needs.
