CES 2007 gave us a winner (Sharp’s 108-inch LCD) in the HDTV war that started since Panasonic introduced their 103-inch plasma...or at least, we thought till this newbie company Tecnovision came out from nowhere with its monstrous 205-inch Luxio LED TV at CeBIT that breaks all the records! The Luxio measures a whopping 455×256cm, so you have to get your TV room renovated just to accommodate it. No other details are yet known, but that doesn’t matter as it is meant for a-la-creme of the society!!

Update: Technovision’s marketing department led us to know that the company has of 20 years of experience in the production of LED maxi-screens and was the 4th company at worldwide level in the industry of LED displays in 2005. The proud manufacturers of the 205-inch Luxio LED HDTV can also produce LED maxi-screens in the sizes 150-inches and 175-inches.

Dear BornRich & attendees,
TecnoVISION warmly thanks all of you for your enjoyable comments about LUXIO.
As you have reported, we have just presented LUXIO and we got so many feedbacks, above all among from who could “touch” LUXIO at the CEBIT in Hannover and LUXURY AND YACHT in Verona.
So as to support you, please note this brief presentation about our company. TecnoVISION (without “h” …) is an industrial company located in Milan, Italy, established in 1987 and specialized in the production of LED maxi-screens.
20 years of experience and growth led us to be in 2005 the 4th company at worldwide level in the industry of LED displays (source: 2006 i-Suppli report).
The latest result of our constant investments in R&D is LUXIO, which:
-is a LED screen (NOT LCD, as wrongly reported by some websites and blogs);
-is the biggest indoor TV actually in the world;
-is a 16/9 TV and can be produced in the sizes 150”, 175” and 205”.
We invite you to get more info by visiting our website www.tecnovision.it … and we would be pleased, first or later, to meet you personally (at soonest, at the NAB of Las Vegas from 14th to 19th April).
Thanks again and warmest regards.

Dear Tecno Vision marketing department,
I guess the negative comments you got depends on the fact that ANY ledscreen with small resolution (3-4mm) could be considered a television according to your statements...
Actually Daktronics showcased a 3mm real pith screen almost 7 years ago... so maybe you actually just found a catchy name for a well-known technology!
Just for clarity, please also note that the report you mention is the ”iSupply - Large Screen Displays 2005” (not 2006) and in there you are not really listed as the ”4th company at worldwide level”... The actual list include Daktronics (20,9%), Barco (14,7), Lighthouse (5,3), Matsushita (4,8), Odeco (4,3), Mitsubishi (4,1)
You can see the report yourself here: http://www.daktronics.com/video_prod/sl/sl-08085.pdf
Seems like you are very good at finding catchy names and statistics... Hope your screens are better than the information you provide!
See ya!
Dear Markmark,
thanks for your comments, and please find our answers.
First of all, you can find the information we have provided in the report iSuppli 2006 (with “i” and not “y”), at the section “2005 worldwide market shares for LED screens manufacturers”.
As we have bought the entire research of iSuppli 2006 to better know the market, we want to support you showing the following figures of the report:
Brand 2005 MS
Daktronics 31,2%
Barco 16,5%
Odeco/Smartvision 12,6%
Tecnovision 4,9%
Lighthouse 4,5%
Matsushita 2,9%
Mitsubishi 2,8%
AP Electronics 2,3%
Opto Tech 2,1%
Leurocom 0,6%
Others 19,6%
Total 100,0%
Source: Report iSuppli 2006
If we compare the figures of the research iSuppli 2005 that you mention with the ones above indicated, we can note two things:
- there is something strange in the market shares: in fact looks very curious that Daktronics passes from 20.9% in 2004 to 31.2% in 2005 and Odeco/Smartvision from 4.3% in 2004 to 12.6% in 2005, while for the others the trend looks acceptable. Are we sure that the market shares that you mention regard really the 2004, o some previous year?
- as we can see, the market is anyway more and more concentrating with a growing presence of the main players.
Regarding the quality of our screens, we agree with you that a sole catchy name (like LUXIO) and some statistics can do nothing without any consistency and reliability, both at company and products levels … TecnoVISION, after 20 years from the foundation, has become 4th in the market probably because can provide the market with something else than simple catchy names and wrong numbers …
Warmest regards.
