A stolen Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece, valued at £50 million, has been recovered in a raid on a lawyer’s office. The Madonna with the Yarnwinder, painted in 1501, was stolen from a castle belonging to the 9th Duke of Buccleuch, Britain’s largest landowner, four years ago. The Drumlanrig Castle is a £403 million abode featuring works by Leonardo, Rembrandt and Holbein. Interestingly, the painting was being used only as guarantee for drug deals and the thieves had no idea of its value or importance.
