Richard Branson is busy flaunting his lavish Virgin Galactic Spaceship and the guys over at EADS Astrium have plans to take their space jet into space in the year 2012. The very same year, the ‘Galactic Suite,’ the first hotel planned in space is expected to open for business. Space tourism is on its full bloom with sub-orbital space flights and multi-million spaceports. Now, Steve Bennett, a 43 years old guy from Manchester has joined the race. He has built the Nova 2, a three seater capsule that is expected to take tourists 60 miles up in space. Steve is the head of the Space Technology Laboratory at Salford University, Manchester and has plans to test the 58 foot rocket by the end of next year. His company Starchaser Industries is also setting up a space port site in New Mexico. When it comes to pricing, it’s quite cheaper when compared with Virgin Galactic’s £107,000 price tag. Starchaser Industries will charge £98,000 per person. No doubt, Steve is on his way to be one of the Britain’s first ‘space tourism’ millionaires.

That’ll be a ride but, at that price, it won’t be a joy. :)
