If you are a flying enthusiast and love all sort of DIY things, you can now build you own spitfire fighter. All you need is $263000 in your bank account to own the ionic spitfire fighter, which played a starring role in World War II. The 90 per cent scale Supermarine Aircraft Mk 26 Spitfire kits cost $203000 but you need a further $60,000 to complete the rest. And yes, it takes 1,200 hours for construction. A GM V6 engine gets the sleek plane to fly at speeds of up to 222mph and reach altitudes of 18,000ft.

The flatpack fighter ships with 700 hours’ worth of construction already done while the rest of the construction is entirely your problem. Old Spitfire pilots say that it flies like the original one and is more agile. Flying enthusiasts have already bought 22 life-size aluminum kits. If you think the price is too high, let me tell you that it’s 1/10th the original price of a spitfire fighter.
