Now, this is one prepossessing espresso machine. The Slayer Espresso machine is a beauty to look at, thanks to the involvement of artisans and craftsmen from a range of disciplines, from lost-wax sculptural metal casting to knife-making to rapid prototyping through SLA models. The Slayer Espresso machine is going to introduce a new technology that allows better heat stability and pressure profiling. The machine apparently takes full advantage of brew pressure deltas, which means it can brew coffee with more than a flat pressure profile, which goes on to improve coffee quality. Slayer’s controller is the most important point where the barista actually touches and engages the machine for a nicely-brewed coffee. The controller is the only mechanism other than the steam valve that is needed to access every function the machine offers. The use of dark Peruvian walnut and a high-gloss, stainless steel casting makes the Slayer a head turner when it comes to design. It’s low and sleek, boasts of temperature control and has exposed paddle group heads.
One notable feature of the Slayer is the X-shaped support system. These X’s are much more than a decorative element. They actually support the entire machine and its key internal components, including tanks and pre-heater. Slayer’s unique design keeps the electronics and other key components away from unsafe sources of heat and humidity.
The Slayer Espresso machine is not in production yet, but a fully functional prototype called proto-Slayer has already been built and tested. The machine opens up so many new variables, such as going from 2D to coffee in 3D. This machine is designed to be the last machine anyone will ever need to purchase. Videos and images after the jump.
