The Digital Masterworks Art-TV from Samsung represents the fourth wave of LCD technology with its fine 46-inch widescreen display being wrapped up in a fine art frame instead of the same old boring traditional bezel. With 1080p resolution, 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 500 nits brightness, the display simply stuns with the immediacy of its appeal and the charisma of its elegance. Debuted at a San Fran press event yesterday, the hybrid LCD TV is being developed by Samsung in collaboration with Thomas Kinkade Company and the set is expected to come pre-loaded with some of the American painter’s more known realistic, bucolic, and idyllic prints on the set’s 40Gb hard drive, with updates available via cable or wirelessly.

The company also plans to have a touch sensitive screen that can allow users to alter lighting or colors within an artwork by hand though we certainly don’t know if the feature will be available for other TV functions or not.
