With the thriving TES in-flight entertainment (IFE) system as its foundation, Rockwell Collins continues to make advancements in technology to make in-flight experience even better. The firm has now announced a new feature to its digital in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems that allow passengers to output audio and video to the in-seat displays and headphones from Apple iPod and other portable media devices. The new integration feature is available on Rockwell Collins’ Digital Total Entertainment System (dTES) and Enhanced Total Entertainment System (eTES) for twin aisle aircraft. The new integration feature includes USB charging capability, which is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, iPod classic, iPod nano and other famous portable media devices. While the dTES solution offers an upgrade from analog tape to high-quality digital audio and video sources, the eTES provides AVOD and interactivity, along with the same high-speed network connectivity.
Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager of Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins, said…
Our solution complements our dTES, and eTES systems by allowing passengers to take advantage of the systems’ superior display and audio capabilities, while allowing them to truly personalize their entertainment experiences while they fly.
