
Piper Aircraft has finally announced their long-awaited ultra-luxurious PiperJet. The revolutionary personal aircraft offers a classic combination of performance and style. The luxury bird features state-of-the-art safety measures, and a strong, smooth all-metal body. The six-passenger jet will be capable of reaching a cruising speed of 360 knots and a maximum operating altitude of 35,000 feet. It will even offer an option for either a seventh seat or enclosable lavatory. The luxury jet flies with a range of 1,300 nautical miles. The PiperJet will feature the latest in integrated glass avionics, a luxurious interior with a spacious, 293 cubic foot cabin that will include rich leather seats, deep zebra wood details, rich fabrics and trim to perfectly placed storage, cup holders and docking stations for personal electronics. The personal jet will be equipped with luxuries, second to none and the deliveries will begin in the first half of 2010 for a price of $2.2 million.

Just saw the full mock-up at the AOPA Convention. What a beautiful aircraft! The cabin layout is extremely well thought out. I love the open floor. (No wingspars in the way.) As I pilot, I love the cockpit and panel arraingement, as well. And, I really prefer the economy of the single turbine operation. (Safety of the new turbines has been exceptional and it’s of no concern of mine that it only operates with the one engine.) $10,000 could have given me a fixed price and early production slot, however...
