Last year, Pioneer rolled out its new 7G HD-ready plasma TVs at IFA 2006 and now, the company has plans to do some justice with the quarterly loss for April-June by launching new 50- and 60-inch full high-definition plasma sets. Both the models will be able to recreate deeper blacks than conventional models. While the company’s close rival Matsushita sells 50-inch full high-definition plasma TVs for $3,780, the Pioneer’s new 1080p sets will cost $6,060 and $8,340 respectively in Japan. I can’t help but laugh at their strategy. Do they think such stocky price tags will do them good?
