lloyds of london

Some lucky fellows have got money to spend lavishly on almost anything that comes their way. At an auction, a pin-head sized mock-up of the Lloyd’s of London building has been sold for £94,000 ($193,000). The tiny sculpture was built by micro-sculptor Willard Wigan using white gold and platinum. Interestingly, it’s smaller than a granule of sugar and can be viewed only under a microscope. Bidding for the minuscule masterpiece started at £25,000. All the proceeds from the auction will go to the Prince’s Trust and the Dyslexia Association. The replica was sold in a custom built display case which features viewing lenses. Wigan calls this tiny replica as the most difficult piece he has ever made. Other artifacts by the artist include the Statue of Liberty in the eye of a needle, Marilyn Munroe on a diamond, Bart Simpson and a Harley Davidson. The inimitable collection has been insured for £11.2 million.
