Our fascination with flying has given us our super heroes...Batman, Superman, Spiderman (he doesn’t flies in literal sense, though). And, for us mortal human beings, we have seen some cool flying car concepts in the recent past including Moller’s Skycar and Transition Flying Car from Terrafugia. Now comes another concept, a flying bike! Actually, it’s a flying gyrocopter tricycle titled PAL-V. What’s even more distinctive in this full-fledged flying and driving vehicle is its ability to tilt on road to avoid congestion just like the European Clever car concept. On the ground, the aerodynamic 3-wheel vehicle is as comfortable as a luxury car just like the Monotracer bike concept, we told you a few days back. And, when it’s time to fly, it’s blades fold up onto its roof!

PAL-V ONE flies under the 4,000 feet (1,500 m) floor of commercial air space and on road it runs on petrol like a conventional car. It can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h both on land and in the air. Besides, it has a Very Short Take Off and Vertical Landing (VSTOVL) capability just like a helicopter making it possible to land practically anywhere. But, unlike helicopters, its less noisey...so scores on every front..fantastic! The PAL-V’s creators are about to begin building a working prototype soon, and further have plans to launch the real thing in 2009. So, let’s hope this concept actually sees the light of the day, sometime in future!
