There is a never-ending race among the Plasma TV manufacturers to grab the crown of producing the ‘world’s largest.’ Now, Shinoda Plasma Corp. of Japan is readying shipments of 3×2m PTA modules to set manufacturers in the later half of 2008, which will then endow you with the possibility of putting a 142 inch plasma TV in your living room. The new high-definition display would have a display resolution of 720p with a striking 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The colossal display will ship 10 units in fiscal 2008 and about 100 units in fiscal 2009. As you might expect, the giant Plasma screen will come with a stocky price tag too. The asking price is several ‘tens of million’ yen and just for your info, 10 million yen equal to about $87,500. Anyway, the 142-inch figure compensates for the oversized price tag.
