Gone are the days when all a picture frame did was display your cherished memories. Frames today can feature slide shows and even play music if you want. Smartparts rolled out the world’s largest digital picture frame at CES 2008 and now, they have gone one step further by adding a built-in photo printer to its SP8PRT digital photo frame. The company claims that the SP8PRT, which is currently on display at the PMA 2008, can print the displayed picture with only the touch of a button. The printer is ingeniously concealed behind the SP8PRT’s LCD screen. The frame itself comes with dye sublimination (dye sub) color cartridge loaded with ink and paper. To print pictures, you just have to load the cartridge into the frame and you’re good to go. But since the print will still need an old fashioned wood or metal frame for display, I kinda find the whole technological advancement thing coming a full circle.
