For all you writing freaks, Namiki has released Maki-e Emperor Butterfly and Chrysanthemum, limited edition pen. Designed by Japanese artisan Michifumi Kawaguchi, the pen meticulously dons an 18-karat gold nib with rhodium accent and its piston ink delivery system guarantees quality writing.
The pen makes use of the ancient Japanese craft of Maki-e lacquering. Lacquering is the art of drawing multi-layered patterns on the barrel and the cap of the pen. Two of Japan’s national symbols, the Great Purple Emperor butterfly and Chrysanthemum, embellish the pen. The butterfly design symbolizes rejuvenation and renewal, which is considered auspicious, where as Chrysanthemum is widely popular as one of the national flowers of Japan.
Not only is the pen breathtakingly beautiful, but has a classy inkbottle to match it as well. Each pen is majestically packed in an elegant gift box, which is adorned with a ‘Kaga Yuzen’, which happens to be a prestigious conventional Japanese handicraft. To possess one such pen you will have to act fast as only 99 pieces are released worldwide.
