If you remember rightly, then I have told you about an innovative Startus Flying Bed designed by Francois Laine that can be hung from the ceiling when not in use. Now, here is another hanging concept though absoluetly novel in its concept, Magnetic Floating Bed. The magnetically leviating bed is designed by the Architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars. The Dutch architect poured-in six long years to devise this amazing design and concept. The bed faces gravitation with magnets and it can carry magneetgebruik up to 900 kilos and is supported by four thin staalkabeltjes (that’s what the translated site say..). The scale model of the bed was presented at the Millionaire Fair in June 2006 and the floating bed is estimated to be priced around 115,000 euros for the scale model and for complete model expect to lay down around 1,200,000 euros. So, what if you always wanted to float in the air meditating, but have failed to do so, here is the smart alternative for you, right folks!!

”Staalkabeltjes” woundn´t be steel cables?
Hmmm... I can imagine what kinds of magnetic fields the user of this thing would be subjected to... probably not for millionaires with pacemakers...
wow, it seems totaly cool,Isn’t it??
Um... If it’s supposed to levitate, then why would it need staalkabeltjes?
It sure looks very interesting, but is it
I think is a great idea and it looks incredible. Looks like the futuristic movie (we are living the future today somehow). I’m not sure how it works, but if its just magnets (2 of them: one in the floor and second in the bed) Then why is it so expensive. Anyone can ask for 2 magnets the size of a bed and put some cables to hold it to the floor and will be much cheaper than the prize of the bed.
I still think the idea is great.
One more thing... if the bed is a magnet, what will happen with electronic devices and credit cards? A magnet that big can brake things down? good question isnt it?
Have a good day readers.
im more concerned with what would happen if the bed flips over, i remember playing with magnets as a child and having one magnet hover over the other - UNTIL it unstablizes flips over and snaps to the other magnet, i know i wouldnt want to be stuck between the floor and a magnet the size of that bed
Yes, it certainly is amazing . It would ( if built ) hover 40cm above the floor and carry 900kg load.
Ummmm . . . Has anyone done the maths ? The magnets would have to be the kind of strength that run MRI machines and more ( ummmm . . . x 10 > 100 ).
Could it be that all that actually exists are some computer renderings ( i.e. ‘artists impressions’ of ‘what it might look like if it ever could be built’ – like the one above ) and a fifth-scale model ( presumably hovers 8cm – i.e. feasible ).
I’m not sure about the magnets, but the power of the press-release should never be underestimated.
Yo, This new bed thing is off the hook kid, straight up wild yo. I mean that bed that floats thats straight up crazy kid, you kno what im talking about. The price must be buggin G. Like a bed that floats thats some crazy ass shit technology. Well, I would love a bed like that untill it flips and there has to have some tweeks in it because a bed that floats is too wild.
it’s a crazy ideal. as knowed,we have magnetic train now, and it just can be raised 10-20 cm, how strong the elcectricity current it need to creat the megnet for raising the train. what about the bed? 40cm,900kg? if don’t use the electricity, it hard to carry out. but do you think of the danger of the hight woltage and the affect of the huge magnet to our body?
>Um... If it’s supposed to levitate, then why would it need staalkabeltjes?
To answer the concerns of the other posters. So it wouldn’t flip, or ’drift off’. The ’staalkabeltjes’ would anchor it in place.
Think of it like a floating balloon. You’d want to anchor it.
I’m curious how weight and movement would affect it (thinking of a floating balloon...)
Then, if you shifted at all on this bed, how would it react to that... Would the field react to differing weights to stabalize the level?
It looks fantastic. I’m just not sure how it would react to my 6’4”, 240# body on it next to my significant other (5’, 100#).
The power/magnet concerns are certainly valid as well. But perhaps less of a worry for someone who can drop 1M Euros on a bed.
fuck it, if these crazy dutch fellas can actually make it work id have one
not really an excitin way to meet ur maker tho is it.... gettin crushed by ur own bed, floating magnet bed or not.
now, which bank to rob first......
Sure would make an unusal bedroom
furniture piece floating around above the ground.
This is really amazing. A floating bed by its concept itself is unique in nature. Avail the Beds for sale offer at British Beds
