While this Kentucky home might look to be just another home at first glance, there is something really unique about it. The house has a big-screen TV, speakers and impressive audio/video gear, but the thing that makes it unique is the voice command software that lets the homeowners control the music, lighting, security and climate control systems. The software is courtesy of a company called Home Automated Living and the product is named HAL. All the homeowners need to do is say something like “Open music, open Led Zeppelin or play Black Dog” into the computer microphone or house telephone, and the music system will play the selected song from a large collection. Moreover, the HAL is voice-compatible with Leviton lighting system, the GE security system and the HAI thermostat. Gary Patterson of Greensburg, Ky.-based Sanja Resort Living, which outfitted the home’s electronic systems, said…
The only trick is that the computer microphone is really sensitive to background noise and can get confused, so normally they pick up the house phone.
In case you are busy watching some movie with high sound, the caller’s ID will be displayed on the TV, so that you never miss any important call. Even the visitors’ arrival is announced. They haven’t mentioned the pricing, but we know it won’t be cheap to own such a voice controlled home.
