local river

How often we wish that we needed not have to travel all the way to the grocery store for the vegetables and fruits. How many times we have hoped that we had a house next to a river where we could catch a fresh fish for lunch or dinner. While some are lucky to have a kitchen garden from where they could pluck fresh herbs and vegetables but most of us, especially the city folks do not have our own garden and we hardly have much time to impersonate the angler. Mathieu Lehanneur and Anthony van den Bossche, inspired by the Locavores who enjoy devouring food produced within a 100 miles radius of the city, have conceptualized a home storage unit for fish and greens that they have christened the Local River. Local River is your fish farm cum kitchen garden that relies on the ecological balance of nature to help the fish and the plants to rely on each other for survival.

The plants get their nutrients from the nitrate rich excreta of the fish. While you can depend on the Local River for your supply of herbs and small fries, this mini fish farm cum mini garden patch cannot completely cancel your visit to the local market.
