The sale beats the previous record for the costliest license plate no in the world by a mile sine the Abu Dhabi plate number 5 was bought by stock broker Talal Khouri for $6.8 million at an auction last year. Car-crazy Gulf cities hold posh license plate numbers in high esteem and since normal plates have five randomized numbers allotted to them, having fewer digits adds to its owners personal wealth in a sense with exclusive license plates sometimes being worth over ten times the value of the cars they are put on. Gosh! Some people just have too much money.
