Maids and butlers may soon be a thing of past as robots take over their roles to offer the same services without creating any fuss and squabble over additional tasks and salaries. I don’t mind having endless cups of Java all day as long as some is willing to brew and serve fresh coffee on demand. Naples university professor, Bruno Sicilano is working on a 6.3 million Euro project called DEXMART, to create Justine, the robot that can make instant coffee in a jiffy. Robots do use their hands but fail to match human dexterity when it comes to performing tasks that use both hands. Sicilano is working to develop a system of two-handed manipulation, equipped with sensors that make the robot conscious of its surroundings and the people in its working space. Should Justine succeed in manipulating human hands, we may soon have futuristic maids and butlers serving us without a fuss. Now, Let me go and get my cup of coffee while you take a look at the video after the jump to see Justine in action.
