Gone are the days when huge LCD screens showing the classic flicks or football were a rage at coffee dens. The trend has shifted to interactive coffee tables that simply refuse to table your coffee alone. Designed to attract groups of fawning nerds to gather around for geeky fun, the Interactive Café Table is a modified pillar table with centrally located touchscreen that can be rotated for uber convenience. Bridging the gap between the real world and the virtual world in terms of sensing technologies, the content of this table can be customized to specific environment and occasion, creating interesting pieces of conversation. This specific table’s USP is that several users can access the screen’s content irrespective of what side of the table they sit on. Though not much is known about its availability or pricing, this one is a prototype that was developed by the Forum for Cultural Heritage and Stockholm City Museum.
