We have earlier told you about Dual-Display notebook from Asustek and as much as we loved it, it seemed to be the only one around with a sub-display in the notebooks section. Though, we have seen a few one-on-one displays in PCs too. But, possibly not anymore if this Intel’s Metro Notebook concept with an outside display turns into real! Intel targets this ultra-slim and ultra-light fashionable notebook at tech-girls who can tote it around conveniently. The sub-0.7 thick, 1 kg sized Metro has a secondary display built into the back of the monitor for fast info updates. The Core 2 Duo-based small screen is a colour non-volatile e-ink display that continues to show content - email, calendar entries, eBooks, etc - even when the power is cut. The e-ink screen is mounted on a leather wrap-around cover which connects to the laptop through a dock connector that’s also capable of hosting USB traffic.

The Metro is designed for entirely wireless communications with reconfigurable antennae which can be switched between the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WiMAX links. And, another clincher is the machine’s inductive connection-less charging pad which will enable the batteries of phones and PDAs to be recharged just by placing them on the notebook. Now, this is too good to resist....isn’t it! But, then it’s still a concept!
