The shelves are flooded with accessories for your iPod and it’s really hard to take notice of all of them. But the new Indigo universal control center by Chord Electronics is something we can’t afford to ignore. It might look like an iPod dock, but it’s not the one. Instead, it has been specifically designed to be the universal control center for both digital and analog sources, both wired and wireless. The Indigo is fully featured including a revolutionary digital iPod dock with a wireless radio link option. The Indigo can stream any audio from any A2DP-enabled device. A few of the digital inputs include SPDIF, AES, optical, USB, iPod and Bluetooth audio. The system is being claimed to turn the supplied iPod classic into powerhouse of sound and blow you away. Other than supporting digital connectivity, the conveniently situated iPod dock features the standard analog connection and charging for use with any iPod.
Headphone connectivity is available with a low distortion, low noise headphone output jack socket easily accessible on the front panel. Control is via the front panel or remote control and the large front panel display gives a clear indication of settings and digital frequencies. The Indigo sells for a cool £8000 ($12,100).
