We never forget to get back our surfboards after a good tan and some flirting on the waves. Some imbeciles do, and their surfboards sell for bizarre prices when they’re found. Case in point is the Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction, wherein a half a century old surfboard went for a record $40,000. Built around the year 1950, this 11-foot Bob Simmons foam sandwich surfboard was sold to an Australian bidder (anonymous now). The Auction also carried other unique surfboards and surfing and non-surfing memorabilia which collectively sold for a price of more than $767,000.
