We have already informed you about the portraits made with people’s ashes, memorial spaceflights, and lately, the luxury genes. Now, what next? What would you say about hanging a cross-section of your loving-one’s stomach on the living room wall or putting a slice of your dead Fido on the mantelpiece? Sounds insane! Anyway, Gunther von Hagens, also known as Dr Death, the German anatomist who plans to sell some of his chemically treated body parts to the public, have put these crazy interior decoration ideas forth. The original exhibition of real human bodies in different postures, like running, playing chess, cradling a glass of whisky and riding a bicycle, has already been witnessed by more than 20 million visitors. However, Dr Death has different ideas for his art products. He is looking for clients, not only universities or clinics, to vend 150,000 body parts that are preserved by a special process called plastination.
If you also wanna decorate your abode with these body parts, you may pick from a collection of 16 transparent horizontal slices of a human (head, neck, torso, extremities) Standard quality (fragile): €1,400 and Robust quality (unbreakable): €2,800. Apart from these, a slice of stomach is available for €350 (normal size) and €2,500 (extra large), while you’ll have to pay €460 for a sliced lapdog.
Writing this post was a sick experience for me, but I had to do it for you. Don’t know, how would you feel while buying or mounting these decorative pieces in your living room?
