So, you have money to burn and want to buy something great this Christmas. What could be better than a Christmas tree adorned with 400 diamonds? Being offered by Takashimaya department store chain in China, the diamond-covered Christmas tree asks for a cool US $1.8 million. The tree is actually a small tower of preserved roses with a teddy bear. It stands 40 centimeters high and flaunts about 100 carats of diamonds from southern Africa and Australia. The store cited that the smaller diamond pieces sparkle charmingly like morning dew on petals, while two-carat and three-carat pieces mesmerize admirers with their noble glow.

strange...a Christmas tree the way nature made it is worth more than an million dollars but comes for a fraction of it......wonder diamond studded Christmas tree is nowhere close to the original!!
I do love Takashimaya, they do sell a lot of silly items; after talking with a sales woman in their big Tokyo branch, these items are valued as marketing gimmicks. The company can advertise that they are selling an item worth millions of dollars, people make the assumption that other expensive items are worth the asking price.
If anyone actually knew about quality and gems, it is emeralds that should be valued more than diamonds; not only are emeralds are far more rare, you aren’t going to see some company manufacturing them in the next 10 years.
I hate new diamonds, they should have more meaning or a history behind them.
