Luxury airliners seem to be leaving no stone unturned to attract customers with lavish amenities, both in the air and on the ground. If you are traveling aboard Delta Air Lines or one of its SkyTeam partners, you will be soon able to enjoy the new, luxurious lounge opened at London’s Heathrow Airport. An upshot of a collaboration between Delta Air Lines and the Air France KLM group, this lounge looks something straight out of “The Jetsons.” The two-level premium lounge includes a spa, restaurant, wine bar, oxygen bar and an entertainment hub complete with computer games. All the international first class, business class and SkyTeam Elite Plus passengers can relax in this futuristic lounge. What makes this lounge really unique is an indoor “living wall” that has more than 60 different species of plants. This stunning, vertical garden is a creation of French botanist Patrick Blanc. Francesca Freeland, director of the SkyTeam Heathrow Airport team, says, “We know there are other lounges out there, but this one is more calming and its design is more contemporary than others I’ve seen.”
The lounge accommodates more than 300 people and comes complete with full-body massage chairs, personal computers, day beds and showers. Since it’s the first co-branded SkyTeam lounge, the launch was designed to exhibit the growing synergy between Delta and its partner airlines.
