One of the world’s most famous cruise ships, Cunard liner QE2, has been announced to cease its ocean cruising and serve as a floating hotel. Launched by the Queen in 1967, the Cunard liner QE2 is honored as the longest-serving vessel in the 168-year history of Cunard that is in possession of Carnival Corp, a UK/US company. The 70,000-tonne vessel will be sold to the Dubai World company in a £50 million deal. Dubai World will receive the celebrated ship in November next year and will berth it at a specially constructed pier at The Palm Jumeirah development in Dubai. The 964ft long and 105ft wide vessel has the capacity to hold up to 1,900 passengers and more than 1,000 crew. It has the honor of undertaking 25 world cruises and crossing the Atlantic more than 800 times in its booty. So, one of the wonders of the maritime world, the Cunard liner QE2, is going to a place where its rich heritage will be cherished.
