kef concept blade

KEF’s Ross Lovegrove-designed MUON speaker is undeniably one of the most extraordinary luxury loudspeakers ever created. Yet another awe-inspiring creation from the renowned audio manufacturer is the Concept Blade loudspeaker. The Concept Blade is an upshot of three years of exhaustive testing and analysis of traditional as well as experimental approaches to loudspeaker design. The acoustic research department at KEF achieved a combination of technologies that generates pure sound. The highly curved carbon fibre/balsa composite cabinet offers extremely high stiffness to minimize cabinet vibration. The side-firing bass units are positioned symmetrically around the Uni-Q driver, which means the entire frequency range is radiated from one point in space. KEF’s Single Apparent Source technology perfectly complements the characteristics of the Uni-Q array to deliver unrivalled coherence throughout the frequency range. The bass extension is exceptional and notably undistorted, even when played loud, thanks to four new 10in. low frequency drivers.

The overall design of the Concept Blade speakers is something we can expect from a manufacturer like KEF; it’s simply eye-catching. KEF says that the Concept Blade is the leading edge of acoustic technology and features principles and technologies that will be incorporated into future models in its range.

Unfortunately, the one-off Concept Blade speaker has been created to show off KEF technology and is not available for sale, but I just wish it could see the light of the day.
