The latest apparel trend for the tech-lovers is the stuff, that is iPod-friendly, or musical or touch-sensitive. Gina over at Techie Diva directed us to the jackets with ipod controls sewn into jacket sleeves, and backpack straps that are displayed on Macworld Conference & Expo along with a pair of Levi’s jeans ‘RedWire DLX’ that will have a joystick in the coin pocket, a built-in iPod docking cradle and retractable headphones.





Wired News reports of a ‘Sonic Fabric’ created by Alyce Santoro that features a cloth made from pre-recorded, recycled cassette tape combined with other fibers and knitted with a pre-recorded tape into potholder-shaped prototypes by hand.

Alyce’s creations are woven with tape that perfectly fits in the clothes. Her latest creations play 20 tracks at once. Alyce says, “To me, the important part is being able to walk around in your favorite music or sound.” Big companies like Target and Nissan have showed keen interest in her musical-clothing range. The designer is now trying to fabrics that can play individual sounds.



The guys over at we-make-money-not-art reports of an affectionate TapTap Scarf that is based on haptic devices and can be re-configured to record and play back the touch to its user. The scarf has two layers, grey one faces the public and a pink layer that touches you and contains the haptic modules in specially designed pockets. The scarf can be worn on a daily-basis and custom touch modules can be placed in powered pockets within to record and play back touch when you want it.
