Though I’m sure no high street fashionista worth her Manolo Blahniks will ever be caught dead anywhere even near live fish that aren’t intended to be dinner, there are some major fashion brands who seem to know something we don’t. A great case in point would be this luxurious fly-fishing rod from the latest Chanel sports collection. Marvelously priced at just under $20,000, the curious initiative is being seen as the brand’s top designer Karl Lagerfeld’s personal tribute to Coco Chanel and her love of the relaxing sport. And in case you thought the endeavor was just another one of those nutty schemes looking to cash in the brand’s name via exorbitantly priced gear, think again.
The kit comes complete with a “Chanel rod and a set of meticulously tied, monochrome Chanel flies, complete with the famous “double C” logo on the gossamer wings, presented in a rather fetching, quilted black leather box.” OK so maybe the logo-branded flies went a little overboard, but when you consider that this kit might be what a filthy rich sugar daddy gets for his gold digging bimbo fifth wife, only then do you understand the true value of the interlocking Chanel Cs!
