simflyer_sm_1_76PHe_5784Much has been written on Bornrich about the racing simulators, which in turn has generated lots of opinions about their comparison with the real thing. Whether you are for it or critical of it, it certainly gives us more a reason to bring newer simulators for you to generate more buzz! The latest is the Bugeye Race Car Simulator from Bugeye Technologies. Ideally manufactured for the professional drivers, I’m sure most of the non-professional ones would also itch to try their racing skills on it. Developed at The Boeing Company for use on the Joint Strike Fighter Program, it features a panoramic display. Thanks to a patented display technology, this Bugeye display creates a virtual image, focused at infinity that renders a perceived 3D field of view without the use of goggles. It is made possible by using commercially available off the shelf lenses and LCD panels.

Akin to looking outside the window, it also generates an immersive surround view some 20 feet in front of the viewer’s eye. While the basic software packages provide a limited number of racetracks, the ARCA/REMAX Simulation Series software package is planned for near term use as a training tool for upcoming races. These software packages permit the driver to have total control over the set up of their car (in the garage) prior to simulated racing. It is just as though they are fine-tuning their real machine.

Totally customized, racers can get it upgraded to their racy tastes too! Though the professional model costs $9,000, you can expect it to escalate more with all the add-ons and customization.
