While speculation seems to continue regarding the spending habits of the uber-rich in these recessionary times, there’s still a strata of the society who is spending like there’s no tomorrow! The latest flashy spending comes from a billionaire Arab sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has reportedly paid £250,000 ($377,490) to fly 30 members of the Household Cavalry on a specially adapted Boeing 747 jet to Abu Dhabi to perform for him. The Musical Ride will travel on business-class flights and stay at one of the country’s top hotels, at the sheik’s expense. At their destination, the horses will be put up in air-conditioned stables, with a team of staff to take care of them. “It looks like the horses are going to get better treatment than we will,” joked spokesman Captain Michael Fry. Not that the army doesn’t deserve such a wonderful treatment, but the money sure could have been utilized well in charity. Anyways, who cares when you have £555 billion of wealth? Sheikh Mansoor is the richest man of United Arab Emirates at £555 billion. The British team, based at the Household Cavalry barracks in Hyde Park, perform at shows around the country, but they have never traveled outside of Europe before. DailyMail reports, “Sheik Mansoor, who is passionate about equestrianism and owns 52 racehorses as well as being an accomplished rider himself, was so taken by the Musical Ride that he offered to foot the entire bill for their stay.” Reportedly, the sheik had splashed out £210million on Manchester City football club, last year. We have earlier told you about the latest 65-meter megayacht of another oil-rich sheikh Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz of the Saudi royal family.

Update: We apologize for a misquote in wealth figures in this article. Instead of £55 billion, we have quoted £555 billion.
