Art is like wine, the older it gets, the richer it becomes! Talk about the smiling ‘Mona Lisa’ by Leonardo Da Vinci or ‘The Divine World’ by Kahlil Gibran, anyone would long to have just a glimpse of the original. It’s not simply a craving for the masterpieces but could exist for the publication of any bestseller. Quite in this category falls this very first illustration from the first Playboy magazine. Ben Denison marked the beginning of a long living tradition in 1953, by creating the first Playboy cartoon, which later included artists of the caliber of Eldon Dedini, Jules Feiffer, Shel Silverstein and Gahan Wilson. Heritage Auctions in Dallas are auctioning off this trendsetting cartoon, on December 12. It is estimated to sell off for $12,000 to $18,000.
