Here is a great opportunity for antique lovers. An agalwood-made antique bed was up for auction over the past National Day holidays in Putian, a city in east China’s Fujian province. It attracted many visitors around the country, including the media. Touted to be a living national treasure, the bed is made out of three tons of the most expensive wood and carved with beautiful and delicate 55 dragons and waves. Experts say that the wood used for this bed, which is 2.2 meters long, 1.8 meters wide and 2.4 meters in height, came from a 1000-year-old tree that originally grew in Indonesia.
Lin Rengui, the owner of the bed cited that he bought it from a family that turned out to be descendants of the Qing dynasty, by exchanging with dozens of ancient Chinese porcelain antiques worth 20 million Yuan. While the bed is on auction for 500 million Yuan (nearly US $66,414,300), some antique experts suggested its price should be as high as 2 billion Yuan or even higher.
