For a country where hot spicy cuisine is sought after by every food enthusiast of the world and where Prime Minister once hosted his own cookery show on Television, it is not unusual that food will always remain at the center stage of love as well as hatred and especially when a dinner would cost $300,000. On April 5, Bangkok’s five-star Lebua Hotel will have 50 special invitees to a sumptuous spread costing $300,000 per person. The super rich diners will devour a ten-course feast prepared by Michelin-starred chefs. Lebua Hotel is not deterred by the criticisms that are pouring in from social activists against the hotel’s once-in-a-lifetime-inspirational-dinner. Before the diners would dig into the lavish spread, they would be taken to a poor village in central Thailand in a private jet to watch the specter of poverty, and they might even donate some bahts in charity. This is after all the way the rich and the famous like to spend their life.
