We hate to discuss this, but we keep on discussing about this often, the modern-age coffins and tombstones. Remember, we have earlier told you about, digital tombstones and the eco-friendly coffin. Now, we just got to know, how an hot rodder would prefer to rest-in for the final journey! James D. Calabrese, a hot-rod enthusiast in Orange County, was buried in a coffin tricked out in Calabrese’s gunmetal gray casket with chrome and aluminum parts from his beloved 1958 Chevy Biscayne. The coffin features parts of his Chevy complete with license plates and dangling dice. Near the headers, aluminum decals cut in the shape of flames provided the finishing touch. Seems like a new trend is about to be started!!

That pic reminded me of “Maserati Rick,” a crack dealer from Detroit who was popular in the eighties. When he was killed, “Maserati Rick” was buried in a $16,000 casket made to resemble a Mercedes Benz, with a real hood ornament, front grill, and four spinning tires. Now that, my friends, is the definition of “hood rich!”
The Story of Maserati Rick
Hey Bill, thanks for the insight. The $16,000 casket is even more outrageous.
